[:en]The 34th edition of BUFF, the international film festival for children and young people in Malmö, Sweden, will take place March 20-25, 2017. Film submission is now open. Please read the instructions below carefully before submitting a film.

Thank you for your interest in submitting a film to the 2017 BUFF International Film Festival. BUFF accepts features, documentaries, animations and short films from all over the world. The main target group for the festival is children and young people (age 3-19). We only accept films with first official screening date January 1st 2016 or later.

Deadline for submitting a film for BUFF 2017 is November 15th, which means we must have received an online screener or a DVD screener of the film on this day. Submitting films to BUFF is free of charge. Selected films will be informed no later than January 15th 2016. Our standard screening format is DCP.

Some films are selected for one of our competitions, but most of the films will be screened outside competition. The competitions at BUFF are:

– Best film for children / The City of Malmö’s Children’s Film Award 100.000 SEK
– Best film for young people / The Church of Sweden Award 100.000 SEK
– Best short film for children and young people / Region Skåne Short Film Award 50.000 SEK
– The Young People’s Film Award organized by the department for Culture for Children and Youth in the City of Malmö
– ECFA Award for Best European film for children and young people / ECFA Award
(At the end of the year the awarded film will be nominated for the overall ECFA Award for best European children’s film of the year, presented during the Berlinale)
