Malmö är Sveriges tredje största stad med en ung befolkning på ca 310 000 med ursprung i 170 länder.

Här kan du uppleva den alternativa stadsdelen Möllevången med pubar, barer och scener, badstranden vid Ribersborg med det fantastiska kallbadhuset beläget bredvid Västra hamnen med den kända byggnaden Turning Torso och boardwalken längs havet samt Lilla Torgs uteserveringar och shopping för alla smaker.

I Malmö finns ett rikt kulturliv inom alla konstarter – alltifrån ett dynamiskt fritt kulturliv med teater, dans, serier, konst, musik etc till institutioner som Malmö Opera, Malmö Konsthall, Stadsbiblioteket, Malmö Museer m.fl. Staden bjuder också sommartid på mycket gratiskultur genom Sommarscen Malmö och Malmö festivalen.

Det finns en mängd organisationer som är verksamma inom filmområdet i Malmö som t ex Filmcentrum Syd. Varje år arrangeras ett 10 tal filmfestivaler varav barn och ungdomsfestivalen BUFF, Nordisk Panorama Nordic Short & Doc Film Festival och MAFF Malmö Arab Film Festival är de största.  Den som vill se dokumentärfilm kan varje vecka besöka Doc Lounge.

Fr o m 2015 finns två kvalitetsfilmbiografer i Malmö – biograf Spegeln på Stortorget och nya biograf Panora på Möllevången. Panora, som drivs av Folkets Bio Malmö, har en speciell inriktning på film för barn och unga kallad Juniora.

Malmö satsar mycket på att utvecklas som filmstad inom film och tvproduktion, fiktionsturism m.m.

Welcome to Malmö

Malmö is Sweden’s third largest city with a young population of 310 000 inhabitants descending from 170 countries.

In Malmö you may experience the alternative borough Möllevången with, pubs, bars and cultural scenes, the beach at Ribersborg with the beautiful Kallbadhuset (a bath built in 1898, where you may enjoy saltwater swimming as well as a coffee), the western harbor where you find Turning torso, the highest residential building in Europe and a nice boardwalk by the waterfront and the outdoor pubs and restaurants at Lilla Torg and shopping for everyone.

In Malmö you find a rich cultural life within all art forms – a dynamic free cultural scene within theatre, dance, music, art, comics etc. and also institutions such as Malmö Opera, Malmö Konsthall (Art center) Malmö Muséer ( the city museum) Stadsbiblioteket (City Library). The city also arranges a lot of free culture events for the population through Sommarscen Malmö (free culture events throughout the city) and the city’s festival Malmöfestivalen

There are a number of organizations working within the film area in Malmö for example Filmcentrum Syd. Every year around 10 film festivals are arranged: the biggest ones being: BUFF the children and young people film festival,  Nordisk Panorama Nordic shorts & Doc film festival, MAFF Malmö Arab Film festival and. For those who wish to focus on documentary film there is Doc Lounge.

In 2015 there will be two art house cinemas in Malmö: Cinema Spegeln at Stortorget and the new cinema Panora in Möllevången the cinema will be run by Folkets Bio Malmö and have a special focus on film for children and young people – in a special concept called Juniora.

The city of Malmö is currently investing to develop the film area – within film- & TV production, fiction tourism and more.
