When the authorities decide to demolish a forest that the Mohawks own to build a golf course, conflict arises when parts of the local population take a stance against the indigenous people. Beans, a young Mohawk, is growing up in the middle of all this, falling in love and choosing his education. The film is based on actual events that played out in Quebec in 1990.

Post-film discussion The film and the discussion that follows afterwards take place on the 21st March: the United Nation’s International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. The project Antirasistiska filmdagar (‘antiracism film days’) is screening the film and hosting the follow-up discussion with Maria Borda, an anthropologist. Who are the Mohawks? What lies behind the events in the film? Are there similarities between the Mohawk people’s situation and other indigenous populations in the world? Tip! On the 21st March, the South African documentary A new country by Sifiso Khanyile will also be shown, followed by a lecture. This is also made possible by Antirasistiska filmdagar.
