Competition: best youth film 2025

Eight films are competing for two prizes. Winners will be announced on March 20th. Young People’s Jury for Film Award Young People’s Jury for Film Award for best youth film is awarded by a high school class from Malmö and is organized by Malmö Kulturskola. Participaiting teachers: Natalija Hedén, Veronica El Radaf, Tobias Ohlsson Bäckström, Linda Persson The Church of Sweden Award The Church of Sweden Prize goes to a youth film that maintains high artistic quality and highlights issues about society, existence and justice in a way that affects both young people and adults. Prize: 100.000 kr Jury: Emma Gray MuntheFilm journalist who reviews films for Aftonbladet and SVT’s Go’kväll. She has, in addition to the BUFF jury, served on juries at festivals such as SXSW and Cannes. Viktor Flarkell Editor at Nöjesguiden, producer at Malmö Pride, actor and educator with a focus on children’s and youth theatre. Kristina KlingbergDeacon in the Swedish Church in Malmö with a special focus on youth work and the church’s relations with Malmö’s high-schools. Felix IlliParish educator in Höllviken Parish with a special focus on confirmation and youth work. In addition to being a passionate watcher of films and series, Felix is an experienced live-action roleplayer, tabletop roleplayer and a former rock musician. Erik LunnebyNineteen-year-old Erik serves on the district board for Svenska Kyrkan Unga in the Diocese of Lund and is a trainee in Höör Parish. His favorite film is Okänd Soldat from 2017. Competition: best short film 2025

The Region Skåne Short Film Award The Region Skåne Short Film Award was established by the region’s cultural committee with the aim of raising the status and importance of short films within children’s and youth films. The award recognizes the filmmaker who has made the festival’s best short film. Quality and innovation are important criteria for selecting the award winners. Prize: 100.000 kr The winner is presented March 20th. Jury Malin Ingrid Johansson A two-time Guldbagge Award-nominated director, raised on a farm in western Sweden. Winner of Best International Short Film at TIFF 2024 with her film Däck 5b. Her film Madden was screened at BUFF 2023. Elin Algreen-Petersen Headmistress and co-founder of Manuskriptskolen for Børnefiktion in Copenhagen. Previously, Elin worked as a children’s book editor for 20 years, during eight of which she was Managing Editor at Gyldendal Børn & Unge. Jonas Tarestad Jonas Tarestad has written the narrative for several cult video games that have broken new ground in interactive storytelling. In addition to video games, Jonas has also worked as a screenwriter for film and television. Fredrik Sjögren Chairman of the Skåne Region Cultural Committee. He is passionate about reversing the trend of increased mental illness among Skåne’s young people. Sigrid Hadenius-Ebner Festival producer Uppsala Short Film Festival where she has worked since 2014. She has also been involved in the Tempo Documentary Film Festival, the Stockholm Film Festival and on the jury at several international film festivals. Tävlande filmer
